WashU Law Howard A. Stamper Professor of Law Emeritus Daniel Mandelker celebrated his 100th birthday on July 18.
During his distinguished career, Professor Mandelker established himself as a leading scholar and teacher in land use, environmental, and state and local government law. His scholarship has guided the field for decades through widely used casebooks and treatises, including the leading land use law casebook, and a comprehensive land use law treatise. He also authored influential works on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and state and local government law.
Professor Mandelker’s legacy extends well beyond his teaching and scholarship. Through the Daniel R. Mandelker Summer Public Interest Fellowship, he has invested in future generations of WashU Law students by supporting fellowships that encourage public interest work in state and local government.
