Congratulations to Christopher Charnetsky and Hayden Hanson, who won the final round of WashULaw’s annual intramural Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Competition, which took place this past Friday, April 16, 2021. The judges of the final round—which included the Hon. Ronald M. Gould (9th Cir.), Hon. Staci M. Yandle (S.D. Ill.), and Hon. David W. Dugan (S.D. Ill.)—were extremely impressed with Messrs. Charnetsky and Hanson, as well as their skilled opponents, Erin Riley and Kelli Galaway.
Special recognition is due also to Clark Gebhardt, Eric Elder, Harrison Hartsough, and Jeffrey Romano, winners of the “Golden Quill Award” for best brief on the petitioner’s and respondent’s sides of the case, respectively. And Christopher Charnetsky achieved the additional distinction of winning the “Golden Gavel Award” for the highest average oral argument scores in the preliminary round of the competition.
Every participant in this year’s competition acquitted themselves with skill and professionalism—congratulations to all!
