3rd Annual John Mercer Langston Midwest Writing Workshop

3rd Annual John Mercer Langston Midwest Writing Workshop

 October 10 and 11, 2025

The Washington University in St. Louis School of Law (WashU Law) welcomes the participants of the 3rd Annual Langston Midwest Writing Workshop. A reception will be held on the evening of Friday, October 10, and the full scholarly workshop on the morning and afternoon of Saturday, October 11.

This workshop is open to all, but prioritizes members of the Lutie A. Lytle and John Mercer Langston organizations that are currently associated with law schools in the Midwest Region. All participants will be expected to present a paper and to serve as a commentator on another attendee’s paper. Papers and ideas of all lengths are welcome. Full drafts will be assigned at least one commentator and will receive an hour of traditional Lutie-Langston group feedback. Incubator sessions will also be arranged for shorter and nascent idea drafts where a panel of papers can be presented for feedback from a commentator and the group.

Registration is required for attendance, and the deadline to register is September 5, 2026. Please register using this link.

The conference hotel is the Charles F. Knight Center Hotel, and registrants can secure a special workshop rate using this link.
