Becoming a Law Library Association Member

Law Library Association memberships run for one year and the fee is determined by the number of attorneys in the firm. The year is based on the calendar year (January 1-December 31) and is pro-rated for new members joining midyear.

Benefits

The Law Library is open to the public Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Attorneys who wish to use the Library in the evenings and on the weekends may do so by becoming a member of the Law Library Association. The Law Library Association offers the following benefits to its members:

  • Access to the Law Library evenings and weekends (requires separate Access Card application)
  • Ability to borrow circulating materials
  • Discounted document delivery fees
    Members: Minimum Charge $8, No charge for Rush Orders
    Non-Members: Minimum Charge $25, Rush Orders $10
  • Reference service from highly trained reference librarians
  • Access to the Internet from your laptop computer while visiting the library Including access to the Law Library’s research links and subscription databases (you will need your own passwords for Westlaw and Lexis)

Membership Levels

Individual attorney – $150

Firm (or corporate law office) of:

2 to 5 attorneys – $300
6 to 20 attorneys – $475
21 to 40 attorneys – $675
41 to 60 attorneys – $900
61 to 100 attorneys – $1,100
100 or more attorneys – $1,300

Membership Application Forms

There are two types of application forms: one for new members and a second to request a card for evening and weekend access.

  1. All new applicants must fill out a membership application
  2. New & existing members wanting to enter the library after 7 PM weekdays and/or on the weekends, must have a Campus ID.
    1. Fill out an Access Card Application. Wait for confirmation email (or call 935-6455)
    2. Go to Campus Card Services located in the Women’s Building, Rm 002 with a Photo ID.

Document Delivery Services

To obtain documents from the Law Library, phone or mail your request (Law Library Association members may also email their requests) with the following information:

  • Exact citation of material to be provided.
  • Whether the documents should be faxed, scanned, or mailed.
  • Name and address to which copies are to be sent, along with any client information you wish to appear on the invoice.
  • Your name and phone number and the firm’s name.

Document Delivery Fees:

Law Library Association Members:

  • Minimum Charge: $8 for up to 25 pages and $.30 per page for additional pages
  • Rush Orders: No additional charge
  • Email with attachment: $5.00 additional
  • Faxes: Photocopy charge plus $1.50 per page
  • Scanning and Email: Additional $5.00
  • Electronic documents: $8:00 per citation
  • Postage: U.S. Mail rates

Non-Members:

  • Minimum Charge: $25 for up to 25 pages and $.30 per page for additional pages
  • Rush Orders: $10 additional charge
  • Email with attachment: $5.00 additional
