About the Clinic
The Wrongful Conviction Clinic provides students the opportunity to represent persons convicted of crimes in Missouri and neighboring states who have credible claims of innocence. Students work in partnership with clinic lawyers to investigate and litigate cases in state post-conviction and federal habeas proceedings, gaining immersive training in complex criminal defense work.
Practical Experience:
- Investigate cases involving credible claims of innocence
- Assist with state post-conviction proceedings
- Support federal habeas corpus litigation
- Conduct witness interviews and factual investigations
- Research legal precedents and procedural requirements
- Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Collaborate with clinic lawyers on case strategy
