Andréa Charles Named Student Representative to Board of Trustees

Please join us in congratulating 3L student Andréa Charles on being named a graduate student representative to the Washington University Board of Trustees for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Each year, the Board appoints a select few students who meet a rigorous criteria to participate in its governance process, offer insights into the on-campus experience and raise concerns as needed. Andréa is one of four to represent the graduate student body this year.

Born just outside of Paris, France, Andréa moved to Missouri in 2018 to study political science at Lindenwood University. She enrolled at WashU Law in the fall of 2022 and has since become actively involved in the Student Bar Association (SBA), Graduate Professional Council (GPC) and Pro-Grads. In May 2023, Andréa was elected SBA president and appointed as the sole student representative for the School of Law’s new dean search committee.

Andréa has interned at the Office of the General Counsel at WashU and recently completed a summer internship at Amundsen Davis in Chicago, one of the nation’s top litigation, business, and employment law firms. This year, Andréa will serve as an executive editor for the Journal of Law and Policy and will work on the Crime Against Humanity Initiative at WashU Law.

Outside of school, Andréa enjoys reading, spending time with her family, practicing martial arts, and playing the piano and harpsichord.
