Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Competition Orientation

Many spots remain open for this year’s Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Competition! The competition—which simulates appellate practice before the U.S. Supreme Court—is open-enrollment, meaning no audition, selection, pre-requisites, or prior experience (beyond what is learned in 1L Legal Practice) are required to compete!

We are pleased to announce that the final round of this year’s competition will be judged by a panel of federal jurists that will be chaired by Judge David R. Stras of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Earlier rounds will be judged by other attorneys and judges from the state and federal bar.

This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire valuable experience and feedback in a low-stakes setting in front of “real” practitioners! Competitors are entitled to one pass/fail academic credit, plus opportunities for distinction that include résumé-burnishing awards for briefing (20 awards given), oral argument (10 awards given), and competition advancement (32 awards given).

Interested students should enroll ASAP by looking for Wiley Rutledge under course code LAW 9200-01 in Workday. An orientation for enrolled students will take place on Monday, August 25, at 12:00 pm in Room 310.
