SUMMARY:PSAB | Finding Good Judges
DESCRIPTION:Clerking is a great opportunity in many ways\, but the outcomes and quality of the experience are dependent entirely on the judge. It is of paramount importance to find who will be a good boss during a formative part of your career\, and it can be especially hard for women\, minorities\, and first-generation students to navigate the opaque judiciary. We will have former judicial clerks (and potentially ACS’s Director of Strategic Engagement) discuss their experiences finding good people to work for while balancing career outcomes and immediate professional growth.

SUMMARY:Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Board Now Accepting Applications
DESCRIPTION:The faculty advisors for the Wiley Rutledge Moot Court (WRMC) competition are now accepting applications for students interested in serving on the WRMC board. The WRMC board is a student body that oversees and manages all aspects of the intramural WRMC competition that takes place at WashU Law in the fall semester. Responsibilities include logistical management\, attorney outreach (to recruit and manage competition judges)\, and research and writing work in support of the competition problem\, among other things. Participation on the board entitles students to one pass/fail academic credit. \n\n\n\nThe board will be busiest in and around the dates for the oral argument tournament\, which will take place mostly on October 24 and during the ensuing week. Those interested in the board should be in Saint Louis and available during that timeframe. \n\n\n\nInterested students should email an application to the WRMC faculty advisors\, Profs. Jeff Drobish and Rich Finneran. Applications should succinctly describe the student’s relevant experience\, qualifications\, and interests. Offers to serve on the board will depend on the qualifications of the applicants and may be made on a rolling/ad-hoc basis\, but applications received by Friday\, April 10\, will receive a decision by Monday\, April 13\, in advance of course registration. Please feel free to contact Profs. Finneran and/or Drobish with any questions. Note: Board members cannot compete in WRMC; therefore\, board members do NOT need to enroll in the WRMC competition in order to serve on the board.

SUMMARY:AI\, Evidence\, and the Integrity of Judicial Proceedings
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence is creating new evidentiary and procedural challenges for courts\, particularly as judges confront fake evidence\, AI-generated or AI-affected evidence\, fabricated citations\, hallucinated filings\, and other submissions shaped by tools that can alter content in ways that are not always obvious on their face. These developments raise pressing questions about authenticity\, reliability\, disclosure\, attorney responsibility\, and the role courts should play in policing the use of AI in litigation. This program examines the evidentiary and case-management issues courts are increasingly likely to face as AI becomes more embedded in litigation practice. The discussion addresses fake and synthetic evidence\, AI-generated or AI-enhanced exhibits\, hallucinated legal filings\, disclosure expectations\, sanctions issues\, and practical approaches judges may consider when trying to preserve the integrity of proceedings without overcorrecting or adopting unworkable rules. This program provides a practical\, judiciary-focused discussion of how courts can respond to AI-related risks that directly affect adjudication.

SUMMARY:AI in Chambers: Judicial Policy\, Standing Orders and the Future of Court Governance
DESCRIPTION:Beyond the courtroom itself\, courts are also beginning to confront difficult institutional questions about whether\, when\, and how AI should be used internally by judges\, law clerks\, and court staff. Issues involving internal AI use policies\, confidentiality\, workflow support\, drafting assistance\, ethics\, training\, procurement\, and public trust are becoming increasingly important as courts consider how to engage with AI responsibly while maintaining legitimacy and independence. \n\n\n\nThis program focuses on the policy and governance side of AI in the judiciary. The discussion addresses internal chamber use\, standing orders\, court-wide AI policies\, transparency concerns\, judicial education\, and broader questions about how courts should think about AI as both a tool and a subject of regulation. The aim is to explore what sound judicial governance looks like in this area and how courts can approach AI in a way that is practical\, cautious\, and institutionally credible.
