Alan Pratzel
Adjunct Professor
Alan D. Pratzel is an instructor in professional responsibility. He was previously honored as the Adjunct Professor of the Year by the Student Bar Association. In his private practice, Professor Pratzel served for over 37 years as an attorney working in the attorney discipline system in Missouri. From April 2007 until his retirement in November 2022, Professor Pratzel served as the Chief Disciplinary Counsel for Missouri under an appointment from the Supreme Court of Missouri. In that role, Professor Pratzel oversaw the investigation and disposition of ethics complaints involving licensed attorneys in the state. Professor Pratzel is the 2022 recipient of the Spurgeon Smithson Award from The Missouri Bar Foundation for extraordinary service toward the increase and diffusion of justice in society. Professor Pratzel is also a past recipient of the Purcell Professionalism Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation, which recognizes Missouri lawyers who have shown a high standard of competency, integrity, and civility in professionalism and civic activities.
