For Employers

Partner with WashU Law to recruit creative legal minds who bring fresh perspectives, rigorous training, and the agility to tackle complex challenges in today’s evolving legal landscape.

Recruiting and Student Engagement

WashU Law students enter law school with strong academic credentials, varied backgrounds, and diverse interests. Our mission in the Career Center is to partner with students to understand their personal interests and career goals and to create an individualized plan to help them achieve those goals. The career paths of WashU Law graduates are as diverse as our students. While many graduates will head to major U.S. legal markets, including Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., Texas, and California, our talented graduates disperse to cities across the country and the world to pursue their legal careers. The Career Center offers many opportunities for employers to engage with and recruit WashU Law students and graduates, and we are committed to partnering with employers to offer an individualized approach to engagement and recruitment that meets each employer’s specific criteria and needs.

WashU Law Equal Opportunity Recruiting Policy

WashU Law acknowledges and respects NALP’s Principles for a Fair and Ethical Recruitment Process. Each employer is free to develop specific recruiting policies and guidelines to fit their hiring objectives; however, WashU Law asks that employers recruit in an equitable manner, maintain a transparent hiring timeline, and give reasonable time periods for students to consider offers of employment.

WashU Law is committed to the principles and practices of equal employment opportunity and does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, or military or protected veteran status. The facilities and services of the WashU Law Career Center are available only to employers whose employment practices are consistent with this policy and are similarly non-discriminatory. By submitting a job posting, using the facilities or services of the WashU Law Career Center, or otherwise recruiting with WashU Law, your organization certifies that it complies with WashU Law’s non-discrimination policy.

We welcome employers to post employment opportunities for current students as well as alumni. We offer two ways to post your opening, via Symplicity or by emailing the Career Center directly at lawcareers@wustl.edu if you do not currently have an online account.

The Career Center hosts two large employer events annually: the IL Networking Reception held in the fall and the 1L Employer Networking Reception.

Career Conversation: 30–60 minute small-group discussions led by practicing attorneys, recruiters, and other professionals. These sessions provide insight into specific practice areas, firm culture, the day-to-day work of attorneys, tips on navigating law school, the application process, and more.

Quick Counsel: Quick Counsels are 15-minute individual meetings with students scheduled within a 60-minute block. You’ll receive the student roster and resumes in advance of your session. Quick Counsels can be held virtual or in-person on a day of your choice.

Career Center Weekly Newsletter: The Career Center publishes a weekly newsletter for students highlighting key information, resources, upcoming events, and important announcements. We also feature contributions from practicing attorneys, recruiters, and other professionals who share written tips, advice, and insights to help students navigate their career paths.
