WashU Law and the university’s board of trustees has granted tenure to Jens Frankenreiter, recognizing his contributions to scholarship and teaching in business and contract law.
Professor Frankenreiter’s research uses tools from economics, statistics, and data science to study how legal rules and governance practices emerge, spread, and shape economic behavior. Much of his recent work develops methods for analyzing large collections of legal texts, allowing scholars to measure legal institutions and contracting practices at scale. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in leading academic journals, among them the Journal of Legal Studies and the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. He holds a Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, and previously held academic appointments at the Max Planck Institute in Bonn and the University of Virginia School of Law.
“Professor Frankenreiter’s tenure reflects the depth and impact of his scholarship, particularly his innovative work with data science, artificial intelligence, and legal tech” said Dean Stefanie Lindquist. “We are proud to recognize his achievements and grateful for the contributions he makes to our academic community.”
WashU Law congratulates Professor Frankenreiter on this significant milestone.
