
WashU Law James Carr Professor of International Criminal Law Leila Sadat was invited by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to speak at the La Fabrique de la Diplomatie conference. The gathering was held at Sorbonne Nouvelle University, and brought together diplomats, policymakers, academics, and international leaders for discussions on the future of global diplomacy.
Professor Sadat spoke as part of a distinguished Forum, on the topic “International Criminal Justice: The End of Utopia?”. The Forum was keynoted by the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs who emphasized France’s commitment to international law, and noted that France had the third largest diplomatic corps in the world. The conference opened the French diplomatic year with more than 100 hours of debates, public dialogues, and interactive simulations designed to showcase the practice of diplomacy and engage the next generation in international affairs.
