Students from WashU Law earned top honors at the 2026 UNLV Pro Football Mock Trade Competition, hosted at the William S. Boyd School of Law.
Organized by the Sports & Entertainment Law Association at William S. Boyd School of Law, the annual competition offers law students a chance to learn strategic planning in a realistic, competitive environment. Participants represent professional football teams, navigate trade negotiations, and comply with Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) rules.
WashU Law 2L Harrison Schwartz, 1L Nick Shunick, and 3L David Hurst captured first place while representing the Los Angeles Chargers. The team also earned the award for best presentation.
Another WashU Law team consisting of 1Ls Brett Joffe, Josh Mandel, and Kian Kashefi, placed third overall as the New York Jets.
Both WashU Law teams were recognized for executing the competition’s “best trade,” a three-team deal that included the Patriots and the second-place team from Florida State University. Shunick also received the “most enthusiastic” superlative.
The results capped a strong showing for WashU Law, highlighting the students’ preparation, collaboration, and ability to navigate the strategic and regulatory complexities of professional sports transactions.
