WashU Law’s Foreign, Comparative & International Law Librarian and Lecturer in Law Tove Klovning has co-authored the newly released Field Guide to Legal Research (2nd Edition, West Academic). The book, co-authored with Paul D. Callister, Director of Leon E. Bloch Law Library and Professor of Law at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, will be published in November and available for Spring 2026 courses.
More than a traditional research manual, Field Guide to Legal Research offers a conceptual roadmap designed for upper-level law students, law clerks, and practicing attorneys. It emphasizes a construct-based approach that helps readers classify research tasks and align them with effective strategies and sources.
The new edition introduces readers to generative artificial intelligence technologies, refreshes core research skills, and provides structured guidance for navigating a wide range of problem types, from agency practice and statistical analysis to patent law.
Congratulations to Tove on this exciting new release.
