New Roles:

  • Madyson Carroll was promoted to the role of admissions specialist. She previously served as admissions coordinator and has worked at the School of Law for just over one year.

Staff Highlights:

  • Tanya Bishop, career center recruiting and operations manager, received the Unsung Legal Heroes Award from Missouri Lawyers Media.
  • Our popular podcast “Applying Yourself,” a guide to demystifying the law school admissions process, will return this year for its third season. Hosted by director of admissions Naomi Blanton and communications program manager Anna Donovan, be on the lookout for upcoming episodes.
  • Congratulations to Fred Chan and Jeanetta Nixon, who will retire this year after 14 years and 18 years of service to the Law School, respectively.
  • Billy Gutierrez, director of communications and technology, serves on the steering committee of SOMOS WashU, an affinity group that facilitates community-building, networking, and connection amongst WashU’s LatinX faculty and staff.
  • Elizabeth Miller, executive assistant to the dean, serves as a volunteer program director for the Northwest Jr. Lion’s Cheerleading Program in the Northwest School District. This year marks her seventh year coaching and third year as program director, leading 145 cheerleaders from third to eighth grade.
  • Merce’de Savala, assistant director of clerkships and public interest, and director of our Government Lawyering Externship Program, has been appointed to the Equal Justice Works’ National Advisory Committee.
  • Alison Smith, assistant director for placement, was named WashULaw Staff Member of the Year by our students.
  • Angela Smith, assistant dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion, works to improve cultural competency at WashULaw, fostering deep appreciation and respect for our diverse community. She previously served as director of operations and diversity in the Career Center and has worked at the School of Law for 25 years.
  • Taylor Yocom, admissions specialist and alumna of the Olin Fellowship Program, will kick off the She Leads Symposium on October 20 as the opening speaker.

Many of our staff members have worked at the Law School for years, and we are glad to recognize their employment milestones, from five to 50 years.
