A new article, “The Top 100 Legal Scholars of 2026,” co-authored by Rob Willey and Melanie Knapp, highlights the continued strength of WashU Law faculty, recognizing three professors among the nation’s most-cited legal scholars during a recent three-year window.
Professors Daniel Epps (No. 43 and No. 72), Benjamin Levin (No. 59 and No. 28), and Neil Richards (No. 40 and No. 74) were honored for the impact of their scholarship over the past three years. The ranking focuses exclusively on citations to recent publications, offering a snapshot of which scholars are shaping current legal discourse.
Earning a place on this list reflects both the reach and relevance of a scholar’s work. The study also examines broader trends in legal scholarship, including increased representation across institutions and continued growth in highly cited research.
The recognition emphasizes WashU Law’s national presence and the role its faculty play in advancing legal thought. Please join us in congratulating Professors Epps, Levin, and Richards on this distinction.
