The flagship Artificial Intelligence and the Practice of Law program, launched in collaboration with Wickard in January 2025, introduces students to the core technologies transforming the legal field. The program provides foundational knowledge of artificial intelligence, large language models (LLMs), and generative AI, as well as practical training in legal applications, emerging tools, and ethical frameworks.

In addition to this signature program, WashU Law advances scholarship and practice across multiple dimensions of AI and the law, including algorithmic accountability, data governance, cybersecurity, privacy, and legal ethics. Faculty members are thought leaders in these areas, producing influential research and shaping policy conversations at both national and global levels.

At the intersection of legal innovation and policy, the WashU Law AI Collaborative at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law focuses on the transformative impact of AI on legal practice, societal structures, and policy making.
