Navigate American legal practice with expert guidance.
WashU Law is dedicated to your success. Each LLM student works with an Attorney Advisor who provides professional mentoring, helping you develop effective lawyering skills and understand American legal practice. Our Center for Academic Success and Legal English (CASLE) offers individual Teaching Assistant meetings, group study sessions, language practice, and cultural exploration to help you thrive. WashU Law also provides Bar Prep seminars throughout the year for eligible students preparing for a U.S. bar exam.

Discover opportunities to put theory into practice.
Federal, state, and local courts sit within 20 minutes of campus. Through the Judicial Experiential Learning Program, you’ll observe legal proceedings firsthand and see classroom concepts come to life. From externships to competitions to student publications, WashU Law connects your studies to real-world legal practice.
Expand your credentials with a JD transfer.
Interested in getting your JD degree? Students who excel in the LLM program have the opportunity to apply for transfer to the JD program—no LSAT necessary. Successful applicants enter the JD program as second-year law students, and most of their LLM course credits transfer to the JD program, enabling students to graduate in as few as two additional years.
