Missouri Lawyers Media recently honored Professor James Reeves with the 2026 ICON Award. The award is given to members of the Missouri legal community aged 60 and older in recognition of their exemplary careers and longstanding commitment to the profession.
Reeves has taught in WashU Law’s Negotiation and Dispute Resolution Program since 2005. He also works closely with students in the International and Graduate Studies Program as a professor and advisor for international students. In addition, he has served as a co-coach for WashU’s ABA Representation in Mediation Team and sits on dissertation committees for JSD candidates.
Outside the classroom, Reeves has worked as a mediator and facilitator for 30 years. His dispute resolution experience includes mediating business and legal disputes involving general tort liability, medical malpractice, products liability, employment and workplace matters, education, condemnation, family business issues, partnership disputes, and other business and commercial conflicts. Prior to his work in dispute resolution, Reeves practiced as a litigation attorney for more than 19 years. He has operated his own firm, providing mediation, facilitation, and conflict management services to individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
